Learn English Through Singing
The Sharkey MethodTM (LETS)

AMEF is pleased to partner with the MacEwan University School of Continuing Education English as an Additional Language (EAL) program in offering the Learn English Through Singing (LETS) course.

This innovative 11-week course uses the power of music and singing to help strengthen EAL (English as an Additional Language) students' English skills. In this fun weekly class, students sing simple contemporary pop songs together in English, learn how to pronounce each word correctly, work on English language skills, and learn the context and the idiomatic expressions expressed in each song. Participants do not need to have any experience, all are welcome. This course is offered in-person at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta and is included in the Pronunciation II Course (course #EOPT 61).

MORE DETAILS & HOW TO APPLY

Songs can be used as a valuable teaching and learning tool. Using songs can help learners improve their listening skills and pronunciation; they can also be useful for teaching vocabulary and sentence structures (Worthington, 2011).
